This unique utility is great for those times when you want to find some code or subject in a text file, but you cannot remember which file it was in.  Being a C/C++ programmer, I all to often find myself trying to remember how I coded a specific program, but cannot remember what *.h or *.cpp file it was in.  This utility has proven to be invaluable in assisting with this problem.   This program uses a recursive algorithm to drill down thru all the sub directories while searching each file for the specified search string.

WinFileScan - FREE
 ( Another great tool for Programmers )
This unique utility is great for searching text files, local or remote for a specified search string.  Use it for searching very large log files that are in production on a remote machine and that are always being updated by some other process.  So you can't simply just open the log file and search through it, WinFileScan first copies the log file to the WinFileScan root folder and then operates on it.  Seems like a simple task for any programmer to handle, but WinFileScan does eliminate a lot of the manual mundane work involved in these processes. Written in C#.NET, so if you don't already have the DOT.NET framework on your PC then you will need to obtain it from microsoft.com. Search for the ( dotnetfx.exe ) utility.
